Treasured Art exhibition secures new Tauranga Art Gallery venue

This year s Treasured Art exhibition and auction will be held at the Tauranga Art Gallery.
The Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise has joined forces with the Tauranga Art Gallery for the exhibition and auction event next month.
Rotary member Kathy Webb said collaborating with the art gallery was exciting and had encouraged high-profile artists including Kelcy Taratoa and Emma Prill to add to this year s collection.

.- Bruce Haley spent his formative years on a small ranch in the southwestern portion of California s San Joaquin Valley, in an area between Lemoore and Riverdale known as the Island District. Haley is a Robert Capa Gold Medal winner and celebrated internationally for his war and documentary work that took him to Somalia, Afghanistan, Burma, the former Soviet Union, and elsewhere.

.- Today, the MIT Press launched MIT Press Open Architecture and Urban Studies, a robust digital collection of classic and previously out-of-print architecture and urban studies books, on their digital book platform MIT Press Direct. The collection was funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation as part of the Humanities Open Book Program, which they co-sponsored with the National Endowment for the Humanities.

.-The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts announced its latest acquisitions of a wide range of artworks that significantly enhance its renowned American art collection. Ranging in date from 1869 to 2020, the museum acquired 168 works of art through purchase and gift. These new additions include historic, 20th century, and contemporary art in the form of paintings, sculptures, photographs, and works on paper. Works by 62 living artists have joined the permanent collection, and 98% of the acquisitions represent the 20th and 21st centuries.

Saleen S7 is the flagship car from Saleen, the American carmaker founded by Steve Saleen, Phil Frank, Hidden Creek Industries, and RML. Introduced in 2000 and made until 2009, it was entirely built by hand, fully original and high performance, and made in small numbers. Urban legend has it that the entire production car probably delivered under 100 units in total, 17 of which were race cars.
